The author, a doctor of theology from Oxford University, is Professor Emeritus of History and Religious Studies at Indiana University. He is the author of one of the classic works on early Christian history, as well as four previous books on Alcoholics Anonymous and the twelve-step movement. excellent history

this book is an excellent histroy of the changes in the perception of how the holy spirit effects changes in us. These changes that moved us from seeing God's grace work only in some people's lives to actually change us individually individually and personally became actual revelations that were necessary to enable personal and individual evengelization. One person helping another to accept God's grace as a changing factor in his or her life. As in one single person, not in a pulpit on on a stage, talking to another about how God's grace changed himself. One person telling another of the things that happened in his life, how those shortcomings made him feel, and the listener finding that he or she could receive the grace of God as well and change as a result of that grace. So much to learn!
