About the Author
Pavel Anzenbacher heads the Department of Pharmacology at Palacky University, Olomouc (Czech Republic) and is vicepresident of the Czech Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology. Having obtained his academic degrees from Charles University, Prague and from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic he joined the Faculty of Medicine at Palacky University. His scientific contacts and stays have included e.g. the Princeton University, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, University of Connecticut, INSERM Montpellier, University of Lubeck, Technical University Berlin and Jagellonian University Cracow. Professor Anzenbacher has authored over 150 original scientific publications and has, among other honours, received the Fogarty Award of the USPHS.

Ulrich M. Zanger is deputy head of the Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Stuttgart (Germany). A chemist by training, he began to work on drug metabolism at the Biocenter of the University of Basel, Switzerland, where he obtained a PhD
degree in biochemistry. He undertook postdoctoral studies at the Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Texas, before returning to Basel and later moving to Stuttgart. His major research interests are in human drug metabolizing cytochromes P450 and in basic and clinical aspects
of pharmacogenetics/genomics. Professor Zanger has authored more than 130 scientific articles and is lecturing in pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Tubingen.

About the Author
Dr. Joycelyn Pollock is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Texas State University. Dr. Pollock's many published works include WOMEN'S CRIMES, CRIMINOLOGY AND CORRECTIONS; CRIMINAL LAW; PRISONS AND PRISON LIFE; and MORALITY STORIES. She received a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany and a J.D. from the University of Houston. She received the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Fellows Award in 2015 for contributions to criminal justice research and education.

A textbook I will actually keep

If you're looking at this product, it's probably because it's a required text for a college course and this review does not matter. You are going to buy it regardless. Still, I will offer some insight. This book is similar in many ways to other ethics textbooks and presents basically an introduction to ethics with a criminal justice slant. I used this in a graduate course and actually ENJOYED the textbook, especially the introductions with real-life examples of ethically dilemmas and the various scenarios scattered throughout the book.

A Fallen Heroine and a Hunt for a Missing Child in the Last Year of the Regency

Set in 1820, the last year of the Regency, this is the story of Captain Bladen Read, a soldier who lost his hand fighting for the crown and resigned his commission after the English government’s actions in the Peterloo Massacre. Blade is the bastard son of an earl with little to do when he stumbles upon Caroline (“Caro”) Falkener, a woman he once coveted but never had, who is now a widow with a young son.

The two are thrown together when a mutual friend, Charles (“Charlie”), Marquess of Tonbridge, invites Blade to be his estate steward. Caro and Charlie’s wife, Merry, have founded a charitable home for fallen women in order to rehabilitate them and Blade is assigned as their security. Caro can relate to the women, having never married her son’s father, who she fears will recognize her son.

I liked Bladen. He had some strength of character and apparently had carried a torch for Caro for some time. Most of the story involves a hunt to recover Caro’s abducted young son. But in the end that all comes right. The story was entertaining but, to me, lacked depth. Some of the scenes toward the end were exciting, however. It may be one you have to read in order since it’s book 4 in the series.

Happy ever after ending

A sweetly sensual historical.
Caro made an error in judgement as a very young lady, and became pregnant by a less than honorable peer. After being tossed out by her pious vicar father,and rejected by his parents after his death, she kept her babe and tried to help others who may have had similar experiences.
Caro's friends hired Blade, a former soldier and bastard son of an earl, for her protection, and that proved necessary. They grew close and intimate. She ended up needing him in ways she never expected.

Ann Leftbridge hits it out of the park again with another great book.

This is another great book by Ann Lethbridge in the series Rakes In Disgrace. Bladen Read ex captain and soldier remeets Caroline Falkner both are scared from scadulous pasts. Caroline from having an illegimate son out of wedlock. Bladen himself a son of a noble father and woman of ill repute mother. They go through their adventure and finally ended up in love despite the dicates of society. This is a great book.Well written and full of great characters.
